1. Fix Error 404 on custom post types

You may face problems with 404 errors or not found pages and Custom Post Types. Try the following steps:

  1. Make sure that none of your Custom Post Types and Single pages have the same name. If they do, rename the single page, including the Slug.
  2. Log into your WordPress Administration Screens, navigate to Settings > Permalinks. Select the default permalinks and Save. Then re-select your preferred permalinks. This will Flush the rewrite rules and should solve your problem.

2. Plugins Installation Tutorial

After activating the theme, you will see message that tells you to install required plugins, click on Begin Installing Plugins or if you can’t see that message, Go to Appearance > Install plugins and star install all the plugins



Next step select all the plugins and change drop down menu to Install then click on Apply button and wait for installation process



After installing plugins you will redirect to plugins list, again select all the plugins and change drop down this time to Activate and click on Apply button then wait for activation process

4. Theme Installation Tutorial

First of all you need to download the theme installable file from your account that purchased item, go to your Xtratheme.com > My Account > Downloads Button

Now go to your site Dashboard > Appearance > Themes and click on Add New Theme like below



Now click on Upload Theme



Choose zipped file that you have Downloaded from ThemeForest and click on Install button, then wait for installation process



Final step click on Activate theme



Theme Installation via FTP

  1. Log in to your server via your FTP software ( FileZilla, Transmit, etc )
  2. Unzip the theme-name.zip file, ONLY use the extracted theme folder pack.
  3. Upload the extracted theme folder into wp-content > themes
  4. Activate the newly installed theme by going to Appearance > Themes
  5. Go to Appearance > Install Plugins and install all plugins
  6. Simply click the Install button on each plugin to install them
  7. Done

5. Bundled Plugins Licenses & Activation Questions

When Premium plugins are Bundled with the theme, you can use the plugins without any problem. All plugins are fully functional even though you don’t get a plugins purchase code for Activation.

Since you purchased a Bundled product, you DO NOT have a license key for that plugins so you can’t enter anything in this field. Updates to the plugins are provided when the theme itself is updated and or via Tickets or via Email.

However, if you want automatic updates and support from the plugin developer you need to purchase it Separately, this is 100% optional.

7. Server Requirements and PHP Config

To use our WordPress Theme(s), you must be running latest WordPress version or at least version 4, PHP 5.6 or higher version ( WordPress officially suggests to use PHP 7 or above ) and mysql 5 or higher version.

9. What to do if demo content import fails?

If the import stalls and fails to respond after a few minutes, or it fails with a simple error message like “Import failed,” You are suffering from PHP configuration limits that are set too low to complete the process. You should contact your web host and ask them to increase those limits to a minimum as follows:

You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing a simple plugin found here. And you can also check your PHP error logs to see the exact error being returned.

10. Internal Server Error

Internal Server Error is a general error message that given when no more specific message is suitable. There are a number of causes for a Internal Server Error to display in your web browser. Above is a sample of error message.

There can be a number of reasons for an Internal Server Error, Here are some thing you can do to solve it.

11. "Are You Sure You Want To Do This?" when trying to install the theme

If you are installing your theme from the WordPress theme installer, but get a message that says "Are you sure you want to do this?" , this means that your web server is configured with PHP settings that are too low to allow the theme ZIP file to upload. Specifically, PHP is configured to a maximum file upload size limit at 8 megabytes or less. The theme ZIP is about 14.5 megabytes in size. Thus, the web server is rejecting the upload. WordPress is giving you a rather ambiguous message in response. This is not a theme fault or bug.

There two ways to solve this problem.

You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing a simple plugin called WordPress phpinfo().

12. Do i need to activate WPBakery or Slider Plugins with license key?

No, We have an Extended license for this plugins and we can only use it in our theme(s), we will update our Plugins repository when this plugins updated, you can update them via our theme or contact us for getting updated plugins files.

NOTE: You do not need to activate Visual Composer & Revolution Slider plugins with license key.

13. White screen (blank page) after installing theme

Both PHP errors and Database errors can manifest as a White Screen, a Blank Screen with no information, commonly known as the WordPress White Screen of Death (WSOD).

Generally blank screen issue is related to PHP memory limit of server but for finding and solving this type of problems, Please do this steps one by one and after each step check your site to see problem solved or not.

14. How to update XTRA theme and plugins?

Its Important that after updating theme or plugin, Clear / Delete your browser Cache, Because browsers caches some of JavaScript and Styles and with new update your need to clear caches.

If you want to update WPBakery Page Builder or Revolution Slider plugins, You can delete them (Before delete backup your sliders) and then install new version of plugins from Appearance > Install Plugins

15. Troubleshooting after importing demo content

  1. Demo data installed correctly, but there's no imges? You either forgot to import attachments when installing demo data, or your server is configured to not allow incoming attachments. You'll need to go through the theme, posts, portfolios and set featured images accordingly.
  2. Seeing a red warning where a revolution slider should be? You just need to import the demo slider included in your themes demo data folder provided in your package.
  3. No Menus?! Help! This is simple, go to appearance -> menus and set your registered menus to a theme location.
  4. I'm getting 404 errors on posts & pages! Go to Settings > Permalinks and save permalinks structure.

16. Google Map Stopped Working

Recently Google Map changed their API key's, So please edit your google map and insert new API key.

Another way for showing google map on your site is google map iframe, Go to this page: https://www.google.com/maps/

Then search your address and click on share button, Then copy embed code and in your page via page builder add Raw HTML element and paste embed code. Please see attachment. 



17. Fix error: Destination folder already exists for installing plugins

This error means your old plugin is not deleted correctly and plugin folder already exist and WordPress can't install new plugin. 

Solution:

- Connect to your FTP

- Go to wp-content > plugins

- Find plugin folder which showing error

- Delete it then go back to admin area and try to install plugin

  2. Deactivate WPBakery plugin
  3. Delete WPBakery plugin
  4. Go to Appearance > Install Plugins 
  5. Install new WPBakery plugin

21. HTTP ERROR 500

You should upgrade your server PHP to version 7 or at least 5.6

WordPress recommended PHP 7.2, You can read here:

Also increase your server PHP memory limit to 128M

If you can’t do it, Contact with your server support and ask for upgrading your PHP to version or above and PHP memory limit to 128M

22. How to get demo pages shortcodes in Xtra theme?

By visiting each demo pages you can find cog icon in right side of your screen, hover over it and click on last icon you can get that page shortcode and use it anywhere you want.
